Samsung Clx 3180 Wireless Driver For Mac
Hi there I just bought a new Samsung printer model no. CLX-3180 series. It is a multifunction color laser printer. The disc that Samsung issued me with for installation is not working. I have attempted to install it by doing what it says:1. I set up the printer and connected the printer to the wireless router via ethernet cable.2. I searched using wireless setup option on the disk for the computer on the network.
It reported back that it could not find it so I was unable to install it wirelessly as it says it is not connected to the LAN network, which it is.3. I then plugged it in via USB and attempted to install it via the disc. This did not work so I tried to do it through windows. This worked and I was able to print from the desktop through the USB.This is all good and well but we have 3 other computers on the network and they can't print!!!Any help would be much appreciatedWe have a netgear wireless router by the way we 4 ethernet ports and attempting to install on Vista. (There is another Vista computer and 2 Macs on the network). To set up the printer for wireless use you need to assign it an IP address which it will transmit for the PC's in the network to log on to.
If the printer does not have its own screen it will need to be connected by cable to a PC in order to do this.If the setup disc will not run get a replacement as you need to install the printer drivers in all your PC's.If you cannot replace the disc you will have to go the the Samsung site and download the drivers from there that are for your OS's.As you now have the printer running off one PC you will need to install the printer drivers on the other PC's and then activate printer sharing. I have just found out that the wireless internet router I was using does not have printer server capabilities.
It is a netgear and when I was plugging in the printer the ethernet port didn't light up - part of the problem.In terms of the options you listed above I have tried no. When I did this I managed to install the printer via USB onto my dell vista laptop. I was then able to print from the computer when the USB was plugged in. I tried to set up a share computer group but am worried I got lost. I first attempted setting it up on the Dell inspiron laptop running vista but it would not print. And then on the mac I got lost again.Could you walk me through how to set up a sharing printer on all these computers?Also, a bit of info on the dell desktop. The computer itself never had wireless capabilities, so it is directly connected to the netgear wireless internet router.

We also bought a d-link USB wireless adaptor for it to connect wirelessly, so the add on does give it wireless capabilities. Not sure if that changes things.In terms of your no.
2 I don't think it was working for us because of the netgear not having printer-server capabilities. 3 - I don't know how to do a wifi install!Now I have one more thing. I also have another router which I originall bought for an adsl connection before we switched to cable. It's a dynalink RTA1025W and I'm not sure if it has printer capabilities. But if it does, I may/may not be able to install through that modem? I still don't know how I'd go about doing that hahaha.Many thanks to you!
Hello,i am currently the latest driver since Yosemite recognized itself the good printer and downloaded the proper driver. So my MacBook Pro really connects to the printer.Printer works fine via:- USB connection- iphone (with the samsung printer apps)I have check and there is really no particular message in the Console.When you click on the printer property, you're able to see the different ink levels. I am also able to access and use the scanner.It is really the printing function that doesn't work. The document is being sent to the printer, but the printer popup box says that it is trying to connect to the printer. And finally says it can't find the printer.I have read several posts and it seems that a lot of users do have the same issue. Samsung is not doing anything nor apple.There are some tricks to be done, but not always working.Still wondering is anyone has been able to fix it or to tell Apple to fix the issue.By the way, this issue was also valid with previous version of OS XThanks for your help. No there is a general problem with Samsungs printer drivers and Cups 2.0 which is the new printing system in Yosemite.
One workaround is, if you have an AirPrint enabled Samsung printer, to switch to the AirPrint driver which comes with OS X (Simply add another printer take the Bonjour printer and use the driver AirPrint instead of the Samsung drivers. This works at least for me, I even get full duplex and the toner fill status that way.

So good enough not to bother with the original driver for now. However if you don't have AirPrint on your printer then you have to wait for Samsung to fix that issue. This is clearly a problem of their drivers and Linux in the future also will be affected since it also uses Cups. So the best bet is to notify Samsung about it. They are pretty quick in fixing those issues once their driver department gets the bug report (there was a similar issue with AirPrint and IOS 8 which was fixed within two weeks after they got the message by releasing a new firmware)I would not count on Apple to fix that issue, since from their POV probably everything is alright. I am not even sure if Cups 2.0 is backwards compatible driver wise.
Best bet really is to call up samsung and notify then about the issue. First of all you have to have an AirPrint enabled printer.
What I did simply was to use system settings - printer - + (Add printer). Then my printer was on the list of possible printers to be added (Bonjour Printer Samsung M2875FW). Then I simply chose the driver AirPrint and that was it.After that printing worked. My printer however needed to be on the latest Samsung firmware since this one fixed a severe AirPrint issue with IOS 8 and possibly also Yosemite.Not sure if the Samsung clx 3180 is AirPrint enabled.
If yes make sure you have upgraded to the latest firmware which should have been released around.If your printer is not an AirPrint printer, then you have to wait for Samsung to release a new driver. Ok I have additional information, the original driver seems to work as well on my printer, it just takes very long from printing to sending the printed document to the printer with the message looking for printer (1-2 Minutes). I also checked the cups logs there is no error whatsoever.However what definitely is broken is the fill status indicator on the driver (which works with the apple supplied drivers). So far I dont think the problem is with Cups I am still convinced the problem lies with the Samsung driver which does non standard things.
