I purchased my first Matias keyboard, a Tactile Pro, in 2005 and I was in keyboard heaven. Aside from being a mechanical keyboard with a proper tactile feel, it was also one of the only Mac keyboards that displayed the characters from the Mac OS Roman character set on the alphanumeric keys. Given that this feature has been present sine Mac System 2, I cannot fathom why Apple has never included or sold keyboards that showed these characters. That stated, I loved my Tactile Pro, but like most mechanical keyboards, I was loud.
While not an issue at home, my co-workers would have been rightfully peeved if I had a Tactile Pro in the office. Thus, in 2015 I purchased a Quiet Pro to use with the iMac my employer purchased to replace the Dell tower that I used when its motherboard died. Like my Tactile Pro at home, the Quiet Pro was a purchase that I did not regret.
Matias's Quiet Pro is the most comfortable and responsive keyboard I have ever used. At least when it's working. Matias's quality control is awful, and these keyboards start to malfunction very quickly. This is my second one, it's been problematic on and off from the start, and now it's not working at all —after 8 months.
The fn key stick much of the time, but that does not take away from the fact that it is an excellent keyboard and far less noisy than its older sibling. The silver keyframe and black keys are also a good match for the iMac’s aesthetic.I recently retired my Tactile Pro, as it was showing its age and some of the keys etchings had faded beyond recognition. Based on my experience with the Quiet Pro I purchased for my work computer, I opted to get a Quiet Pro instead of a new Tactile Pro mostly for aesthetic reasons; the Tactile Pro is still an excellent keyboard, but its appearance has never been updated so it still looks like a a replacement for the Apple Pro Keyboard (M7803) from 2000. To my pleasant surprise, the Quiet Pro I just purchased was not only seemingly quieter than the one I purchased for work over 3 years ago, but it also included two detachable cables; one is about 3 feet long and the other is roughly six feet.
The Matias Website does not mention this feature; well not for this keyboard. So now when I do keyboard cleanings I no longer have top reach around the back of my Mac to unplug the keyboard! So if you are tired of the numerous low-travel, chiclet-style keyboards that now proliferate the peripheral market, Matias may just have the real keyboard that suits your needs.I would recommend this item to a friend!

Tried some inexpensive ones, but was never completely satisfied with the feel and reliability of those keyboards. Got an email from OWC about this one and decided to give it a try since it appeared to be an extremely close replacement for my original board. It has worked flawlessly since my purchase and continues to do so. It is quite close in feel to the original and more comfortable for my needs and use.
I don't do a ton of typing, but I would recommend this keyboard without reservation.I would recommend this item to a friend! Not perfect April 25, 2015 Great keyboard for what it is. I've been using the Matias tactile pro for a few months now and that is a GREAT keyboard for Mac. However, as any mechanical keyboard, it is quite loud. This keyboard is basically exactly the same but the key switches are MUCH quieter. However, there is a huge trade off in the tactile feel. It's worth it for me since I am not too picky but if someone could make a quite key switch with the same tactile feel as the original tactile pro keyboard, that would be a winner for sure.I would recommend this item to a friend!

After buying the 'quiet pro', have come to the conclusion that Matias lost its touch on this one. The first keyboard died on me in the first month of use. They were great in sending a replacement, but now that replacement keyboard is starting to fail (getting duplicate keystrokes on various keys). Never had this quality issue with Matias before, and will not buy another 'quiet pro' ever again. I was concerned about the reports of the standard keyboard by Matias being too loud, so I took a chance on this quiet version.
I am very happy. Since I type all day for a living, having precise feedback to my fingers is extremely important.I would heartily recommend this keyboard to anyone who misses the feel of the old mechanical style keys.My only wish is that it could have been a Bluetooth version, but since it also has hubs for USB, I cannot complain too much.I would recommend this item to a friend!
